Sundyne Expands its Commitment to the Hydrogen Industry by Joining the California Hydrogen Business Council

Sundyne’s Pumps & Compressors are widely used Around the Globe for the Production, Distribution and Storage of Hydrogen

Earlier this month, Sundyne joined the California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC) – which is a leading advocate for the hydrogen and fuel cell industry. The membership-based trade association represents a wide array of organizations - including auto, bus & heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers, compressor/pump manufacturers, fuel cells, electrolyzers, tanks & storage, utility companies, government agencies and educational institutions. The CHBC’s charter is to advance the commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell technology via sector-focused initiatives which include renewable hydrogen, distribution & infrastructure, off-road mobility, on-road mobility and power generation.

“We are pleased to welcome Sundyne to the CHBC and we look forward to collaborating to advance the commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell systems in all market sectors,” said CHBC’s Executive Director Katrina Fritz.

Sundyne’s broad product portfolio of pumps and compressors serves a wide range of hydrogen and carbon capture applications in the transport/mobility, power generation, refining, ammonia, chemical and mining industries. Sundyne’s market leading products that are tailored to hydrogen processing include:

PPI Diaphragm Compressors
are specifically designed to address the challenges associated with compressing H2 from low pressure levels (such as electrolyzer outlet pressure) to over 1,000 bar with the highest levels of purity needed for today’s mobility applications.

Integrally Geared Centrifugal Compressors
are widely used to recirculate hydrogen across numerous applications. They’re also used to process hydrogen (and CO2) for the production of green e-Methanol.

Sundyne’s ETFE-lined ANSIMAG pumps or HMD Kontro metallic pumps
are widely used to pump water and chemicals for pH control into electrolyzers. Sundyne’s sealless pumps feature a compact footprint (with no seals or seal support systems), which is important to accommodate space constraints on electrolyzer skids. Sealless pumps also eliminate the potential for leaks, and they are easier to install, operate and maintain.

“Sundyne shares the CHBC’s commitment towards advancing the hydrogen market for mobility applications, and our technology plays a unique role in the production, transportation and storage for hydrogen,” said Sundyne’s Vice President, Hydrogen Michael O’Neil. “Our PPI diaphragm compressors are perfectly suited to meet the pressure and purity levels needed to compress hydrogen for mobility applications. Our centrifugal compressors have a lengthy track record in sealing and moving hydrogen and our sealless pumps are a preferred choice for electrolyzer applications. Our collaboration with CHBC further illustrates our commitment to advancing the industry in a variety of ways, and we’re looking forward to working closely with the various members of the council.”
