During the last week of September, Sundyne sponsored both the Turbo Pump Symposia in Houston, TX and the H2/CCUS Tech Expo in Bremen, Germany. Each event delivered a high-quality audience of EPC’s, Sundyne customers and numerous prospects that were investigating pump and compression technologies. Below is a recap of each event.

Headlines from TPS (Turbo Pump Symposia)

Attendees at TPS in the post COVID years leaned heavily towards end-user needs, as the need to improve process efficiencies was paramount. The 2023 edition of the TPS seemed to reflect more of a shift to what we’ve seen in past years, with a majority of attendees from various EPC (Engineering Procurement & Construction) companies actively working on longer range projects and technology advancements.

This is a positive sign for Sundyne’s business in the 2-5 year timeframe, as these projects go through the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) stages and on to quoting projects. A significant amount of these projects seemed to concentrate on LNG, Petrochemical and CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) in support of a wide range of industries, including the Energy sector.

Interest in the Sundyne Compressor line for LNG and the PPI Diaphragm Compressor line for Hydrogen was high. Sundyne personnel participating as group leader and active participants within the API 685 Discussion Group led directly to significant opportunities emerging for HMD products in Hydrofluoric Alkylation applications.

Once again, the TPS event has proven to be a valuable channel to showcase Sundyne products and to promote Sundyne’s leadership as one of the top pump and compressor manufacturers in the world.

Headlines from H2/CCUS Tech Expo in Bremen

The booth conversations in Bremen, Germany at the CCUS/H2 Tech Expo were equally lively. We talked to hundreds of people – including existing customers, EPCs, prospects, and potential prospects who visited the expo to research compression technologies. A high percentage of people we spoke with are in the FEED stage of large projects. Everyone we talked to was interested in compression, but surprisingly, few attendees had a precise understanding of what they need. Most were open to recommendations.

Our booth discussions included numerous conversations and requests for information to support the following applications:

  • Ammonia production, storage and transportation
  • Liquid Hydrogen
  • Liquified CO2
  • Processing units for CCUS Separation Membranes
  • Boil off Gas Applications
  • E-Methanol.

The people we talked to came from a wide range of industries that are embracing Hydrogen. Almost everyone expressed an interest in carbon capture. There were a surprising number of conversations with people from chemical and petrochemical plants. They were eager to learn more, and were seeking recommendations. There were also several engineering companies that we spoke to who haven’t yet decided what type of compressor is right for their application.

Our takeaway from Bremen is that there are a lot of opportunities for Hydrogen processing and CCUS in Europe, and most of these projects are in the FEED, or pilot stages.
